Aquatic Spraying Treatment | |
|
We are equipped to provide aquatic spraying with a 14 foot John boat. Aquatic weeds can pose a problem to lakes and ponds from a recreational perspective. One way of ridding and controlling aquatic weeds is with chemical treatments. Some of the advantages of keeping the weeds out of the water includes: it decreases the resistance in the water while swimming; it rids some of the hazards like algae on rocks which makes it easy to slip on; it aids wading through the water and much more. Some algae produce noxious odors which are somewhat disturbing to the public. In addition, certain types of blue green algae can be toxic and fatal to animals and children if ingested. Another problem is the vegetation to fish ratio. Lakes can become infested with invasive species of plants which can cause fish to die from oxygen depletion. Because fish do need vegetation the department of natural resources limits the number of lakes treated. The balance between aquatic vegetation and the biomass of organisms that live off the vegetation plays a critical role in the ecosystem. A lot of the invasive species in the lakes grow much faster and more aggressive compared to the native plants. To no surprise, the native plants are out competed leaving your curly leaf pondweed and Eurasian milfoil to take over the lake which later creates an algae bloom. Once the algae bloom has started, it produces a foul smell followed by creating a film on top of the water that usually turns into massive mats of algae. This is undesirable to humans and animals. With the right management you can help prevent some of these problems and make our lakes more users friendly and more appealing to all of nature. |
